In a very tough division the Phillies will likely be last. They are in total rebuild mode but the future is bright because they have a lot of youngsters coming up.

Phillies lineup is…..Nothing special

Don’t see many runs scored with this lineup. I really think Herrera should bat leadoff, he is an on base guy can steal bases and is solid. Problem is who
are you going to have bat 3rd? I would still do it. Crawford, Alvaro and Quinn are all young and likely not ready for any serious playing time til later in the year.

Again don’t expect this lineup to score a ton of runs. They just won’t..

This rotation is very interesting to me. I kinda like it.

Hellickson looked very good last season, if he is 80% of what he was last season that would be huge. Remember he was highly regarded at one time and he finally showcased why. Big fan of Eickhoff 1.16 WHIP, 3.65 ERA. He has tons of upside and could be ace caliber this season. Velaquez showed big potential last season and is a very talented pitcher. Nola is another guy I like, last year his ERA was 4.78 but he was unlucky because his FIP was a little over 3.

Buchholz we all know him from Boston. He is extremely inconsistent and I avoid games where he starts because he is so unreliable.

BP I have major concerns, never believed in Gomez and he imploded late. Neshik, Neris are ok but shaky. This BP could surprise but I am concerned now.

Overall I like their rotation a lot, with a little luck and some young help this lineup could deliver enough. This team would probably be competitive in the AL Central but since they are in the toughest division we can’t expect much but this team is about 2 years away from doing some great things. Only Herrera is signed long term and they are saving tons of money to get a big FA. Phillies will make us some money this season because they are better than most think.
